According to preliminary accounts, the grim discovery was made by a chef attached to the Chinese management team overseeing the project. Alarm was quickly raised, prompting security personnel and colleagues to rush the worker to Nairobi Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Nairobi Police Commander Issa Mohamud confirmed that authorities are pursuing two primary lines of inquiry: whether the death resulted from natural causes or if foul play was involved.
